Lumbini. Bhairahawa: The Inland Revenue Office, Bhairahawa, has collected revenue of around Rs 13 billion in the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS. Chief Tax Officer at the Office, Prem Raj Pokharel, said that out of the target of Rs 13.27 billion revenue collection in the last fiscal year, rs 12.98 billion or 97.8 percent of the target has been collected.

According to the Office, the revenue collection has increased by Rs 2.35 billion or 25.7 percent in the last fiscal year as compared to the previous fiscal year 2080/81 BS. Pokharel said that the office collected revenue as per the target in august, September, February, April, May and June of the last fiscal year.

In the last fiscal year, the office collected Rs 1.70 billion in income tax, Rs 2.86 billion in value-added tax and over Rs 9.01 billion in excise duty. More than Rs 1.95 billion revenue has been collected in the last fiscal year as compared to the previous fiscal year.

Similarly, income tax revenue has increased by Rs 370 million and value added tax by Rs 290 million. Chief Pokharel said that the revenue collection has increased due to positive improvement in the indicators of the economy and the increase in the production capacity of the industry. He said the government’s introduction of digital system in payments, including revenue filing, has made it easier for small taxpayers.

Siddharthanagar Municipality of Rupandehi, Tilottama Municipality Ward No. 5 to 17, Devdaha Municipality Ward No. 1 to 4 and Ward No. 11 and 12, Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Gaidhawa Rural Municipality, Kanchan Rural Municipality Ward No. 5, Kothimai Rural Municipality, Marchwari Rural Municipality, Mayadevi Rural Municipality, Omsatia Rural Municipality, Rohini Rural Municipality, Samrimai Rural Municipality and Siyari Rural Municipality are included in the jurisdiction of the Inland Revenue Office, Bhairahawa.
