Myagdi. Myagdi: The beni-Arthunge-Pulachaur road project in Myagdi has paved the road from Beni to Purundi section via Arthunge. The road connects the settlements of Beni Municipality-6, 5 and Mangala Rural Municipality-1 with beni, the district headquarters. Beni municipality mayor Surat KC said the six-kilometre road from Beni to Purundi via Beni-6 Arthunge-Bansbot-Ekpate-Avechaur has been paved by slope and blacktopping.

“The road project connecting Beni to Pulachaur via Arthunge is a priority successive project of Beni Municipality,” he said, adding, “Rs 16.25 million has been allocated in the fiscal year 2082÷83 BS for upgrading the road from Purundi to Pulachau.” ’

Beni Municipality had launched two projects in the fiscal year 2081÷82 BS for upgrading the Beni-Arthunge Pulachaur road. Last year, there was a slope and blacktopping from Beni to Bansbot of Beni Municipality-6 via Arthunge.

According to Beni municipality technician Milan KC, 426 meters of premix blacktopping, 130 meters of slopes and 190 meters of pucca drains have been constructed in Ekpate and Abechaur areas through the contract agreement for Rs 6,267,838.

Under the road board’s programme, 232 meters of slope, 150 meters of concrete drains, walls have been completed and 72 meters of premix is yet to be blacktopped.

Road widening, drains and corner walls have been constructed before the blacktopping and slope. Earlier, the road was widened in the ratio of four meters. It has been widened to seven meters.

Bishnu Dutta Sharma, a resident of Ekpate, said that the road has been upgraded after almost two decades of opening the road. “Earlier, it used to take 40 minutes to reach Beni from Ekpate with the improvement of the road, but now the journey has been reduced to 10 minutes,” he said. ’

The locals have demanded that regular transportation should be operated on the upgraded road and the fare should be adjusted. According to the municipality, the new fare has been fixed with the beginning of the new fiscal year in coordination with the District Administration Office as per the demand of the locals.
