Gulmi. Preparations have been made to set up a 100 kW wind power project at Resunga Municipality-7.

Ward chair Ram Prasad Panthi said the decision to start the project was taken after all-party and all-party meetings of the ward agreed upon it.

Ward Chair Panthi stressed the need to develop Arjun area not only as a tourist destination but also as a suitable center for wind power generation. He informed that he had already recommended the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre two years ago and now the Ministry of Energy has initiated the feasibility study process.

Since the distance from Arjun to Unaichaur substation is only about 800 meters, the electricity produced can be sold on the national transmission line. According to preliminary estimates, the project is expected to generate income of Rs 8,000 per day, Rs 240,000 per month and Rs 2.88 million annually.

There is a plan to conduct a feasibility study and prepare the necessary preliminary structure at an investment of Rs 15 million for the initial phase of the project. The residents of the ward will be included in the investment through shares and the remaining budget will be raised in coordination with the state, union and alternative energy center.

All the people’s representatives of the ward have expressed solidarity as the plan is appropriate. An all-party agreement has been reached to spend the budget received from the municipality in the current fiscal year on the construction of physical infrastructure other than the target area.
