Construction of roads and bridges of importance including Manthali-Pakarbas-Goganpani-Galwa road, Sitkha-Goganpani-Dhulebesi-Bhotnagi road and Khimti-Rasnalu-Those road being constructed through the District Infrastructure Office has been delayed.
The Sitkha-Goganpani-Dhulebesi-Bhotnagi road, which was supposed to be blacktopped in September last year, has not been completed yet. The locals had locked the District Infrastructure Development Office after the contractors failed to complete the work on time. Pandav Subedi, a local of Manthali Municipality-1, said that although the contractors and the office had promised to complete the work within the stipulated time, the commitment was not fulfilled.
Similarly, the deadline for blacktopping the Pakarbas-Galpa road under manthali-Pakarbas-Goganpani-Galwa road was till Mid-June last year. Even after one year of the expiry of the deadline, there has been no blacktopping.
Aryal Brothers and Diva Bhuvaneshwari JV had taken the responsibility of blacktopping the 10-km Pakarwas-Goganpani-Galwa road at a cost of Rs 430 million. Garima Rautaha Sagoon and Panchpokhari Construction had taken the responsibility of constructing the 7.5-km Goganpani-Dhulebesi-Bhotnagi road at a cost of Rs 170 million. Chairperson of Khandadevi Rural Municipality-4, Krishna Prasad Poudel, told RSS that the District Technical Office has not shown any interest even though the contract has not been completed within four years.
The Khimti-Rasnalu-Those road being constructed through the same office is also in shambles. Vehicles going to the northern part of the district are stuck in the mud for hours on this road. Chairman of Gokulganga Rural Municipality Kazi Bahadur Khadka has demanded action against the contractors and the chief of the Infrastructure Development Office for not completing the work within the stipulated 100.
Office Chief Janendra Prasad Pun, however, said that he had warned the contractors not to complete the work within the stipulated time.
