Chairman Dhakal focuses on quality milk products

Kathmandu. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said that attention should be paid to send milk products to the global market by making them quality. Speaking at a kheer promotion programme organised by Nepal Dairy Association here today, he stressed the need for the domestic industry to pay attention to some dairy products which have to be imported from abroad.

Stating that the rural economy could be boosted by promoting agriculture, Chairman Dhakal stressed the need to increase investment in agriculture and animal husbandry business, which is the pillar of the economy. Stating that the government has formulated private sector-friendly laws under the leadership of the Federation, he complained that the private sector has not been able to do business openly due to lack of implementation of some laws.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Pashupati Dhungana, said the ministry was committed to resolving the problems of agriculture and livestock farmers.

Association President Prahlad Dahal said that the association has been working for the rights of small, medium and large dairy industries. According to the association, around 8 million liters of milk will be consumed across the country on the day of kheer eating on July 15 and a turnover of about Rs 1.4 billion will be made for this.
