Country’s debt increased by Rs 2.31 billion in one year, 91,500 loans to each citizen

Kathmandu. The country’s total public debt has increased by Rs 231.8 billion in the last fiscal year 2081-82. During this period, the country’s debt has reached Rs 26.69 billion. In the fiscal year 2080-81, such loans stood at Rs 2,438.48 billion.

} the debt added last year is only Rs 152 billion. The remaining Rs 79 billion has been added due to the weakening of the Nepali currency against the foreign currency. Compared to the loan raised last year, only Rs 151 billion has been reduced.

In last year’TAG_OPEN_div_16 s budget, the government had set a target of raising Rs 547 billion in public debt. In the last one year, only Rs 455.39 billion has been borrowed. This is 83.25 percent of the target. The government had set a target of raising Rs 330 billion in internal debt out of the total public debt.

Last year, only Rs 152 billion was received as external debt. Internal and external debt accounted for 72.46 per cent and 27.54 per cent of total public debt receipts.

According to the Office of the TAG_OPEN_div_12, rs 362.59 billion has been paid till June against rs 402.85 billion allocated for loan service expenditure in the last fiscal year. This is 90.01 percent on the basis of annual budget allocation. Similarly, the total service loan service expenditure in terms of GDP is 5.94 percent.
