Bhaktapur. A total of 31,225 foreign tourists have visited the Changunarayan Temple in the last one year.

A total of 5,756 tourists from SAARC countries, including India, visited the temple of Sabita Basnet, chief of Changunarayan Tourist Information Centre. Apart from this, 25,459 tourists have come from European countries.

Changunarayan has collected Rs 11.91 million revenue from foreign tourists. A total of Rs 1,726,800 has been collected as tourism fee at the rate of Rs 300 per person from tourists from SAARC countries including India. Similarly, rs 10.18 million has been collected from tourists from other countries at the rate of Rs 400 per person, he said.

Mayor of Changunarayan Municipality Jeevan Khatri said that the municipality has been spending the amount collected as tourism fee for the development of various historical, religious, archaeological and touristic areas in the city along with changunarayan area.
