Myagdi. The upgradation of Bhagawati-Begkhola road of Raghuganga rural municipality has begun from today. The construction company of the project run by the Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, has started upgrading the road from Bhagwati to Beg by mobilizing dozers and labourers.

The Gandaki state government, on the recommendation of directly elected lawmakers in each constituency, had selected one road project in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS to award multi-year contracts.

On the recommendation of State Assembly member Hari Bahadur Bhandari elected from Myagdi in 1910, the state government had ensured a budget of Rs 50 million for upgrading the Beg and Bhagwati-Sijalgaun-Sajhpani-Bayarigaun-Beg roads through Galeshwor-Piple-Bhagwati.

The infrastructure development office and Himalayan Construction had signed a contract agreement worth Rs 28.2 million on June 28. The contract period is 18 months. Niraj Bhandari, director of the company, said that adequate labor and equipment would be mobilized and construction materials would be collected and completed before the scheduled time.

Bishnu Poudel, chief of infrastructure development office, Myagdi, said that one kilometer 400 meters slope and ‘premix’ will be blacktopped from Jaisikhor of Bhagwati to Beg via Sijalgaun.

Earlier, about six kilometers of the Piple-Bhagwati section of the Galeshwor-Piple-Bhagwati-Beg road had been blacktopped. The road, which was opened 15 years ago, is four to five metres wide.

Under the plan, at least seven meters wide, walls and drains will be constructed. The road will benefit the residents of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-1, Beg and Ward No. 2, Bhagawati, said rural municipality chair Bhav Bahadur Bhandari.
