Link research results to productivity enhancement: Minister Dahal

Kathmandu. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal has stressed the need to link the results of research conducted by universities and experts with productivity enhancement. Stating that long-term research should not be stuck on paper, he said that it should be used to increase productivity through its implementation.

Minister Dahal visited Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University at Chitlang in Makawanpur and enquired about the research being carried out there. He said nepali experts and scientists have been conducting in-depth studies and research and the government would pay attention to create an environment where their findings and results would be utilized.

He said that the journey of economic prosperity could be made easier by increasing productivity on the basis of the study done by the university on mushroom, jumlamarsi, millet, various plants, etc.

University President Rajendra Dhwaj Joshi said that the university has not done any research that is wasted so far and it is necessary to create an environment to take the results of the research done to the farmers and entrepreneurs. Stating that research was underway on organic and organic farming system, various uses of plants, etc., he said its consequences would be informed at the grassroots level.

Pm’s Economic Advisor Dr. Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said that agro-tourism, agro-enterprises, etc. could be developed on the basis of the results obtained from the research. He said that it is necessary to create the necessary environment in Nepali universities where students from different countries are willing to come for studies.

Similarly, Member of The House of Representatives and CHIEF Whip of CPN(UML) Mahesh Bartaula stressed the need to further expand the research programme. Associate Professor Bhushan Shrestha said that the university is conducting research on various mushrooms found in Nepal.
