8% increase in foreign tourists compared to last year, 647,000 in 7 months

Kathmandu. Nepal has welcomed a total of 70,193 international tourists in July 2025. This is an increase of 8.7 percent compared to July last year.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board( NTB), Nepal has made 99 per cent recovery in tourist arrivals in July 2025 compared to the pre-pandemic situation in April 2019. With this, the tourism sector, which was disrupted after Covid, has returned to normal.

A total of 647,882 international tourists arrived in Nepal in the first seven months from January to July 2025. This is the highest arrival compared to any post-pandemic year. Deepak Raj Joshi, CHIEF Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, said that this number shows that Nepal’s tourism is reviving and once again becoming a popular destination all over the world.

Of the total arrivals in July, 27,152 or 38.7 per cent tourists came from India alone. In the second place, 6,890 tourists (9.8 percent) from China, 6,626 (9.4 percent) from the UNITED States, 4,413 (6.3 percent) from Bangladesh and 3,547 (5.1 percent) tourists from the UNITED Kingdom came to Nepal.

According to the regional analysis, south Asian countries have the highest number of 33,787 people (48.1 per cent). 13,052 (18.6 per cent) from other Asian countries, 9,292 (13.2 per cent) from Europe, 12,775 (11.1 per cent) from the US, 1,807 (2.6 per cent) from Oceania, 826 (1.2 per cent) from the Middle East ( 1.2 per cent), 318 (0.5 per cent) from Africa and 3,329 (4.7 per cent) from other regions.

Board CEO Joshi said, “The promotional programs being run under the Visit Nepal decade, private sector investment flow, and various tourism products have increased tourist attraction in Nepal in recent times. ’
