Increase use of information technology for transport management: Minister Dahal

Kathmandu. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal has stressed the need to increase the use of information technology for transport management.

Speaking at a programme organized by JICA on transport management in Kathmandu Valley in Lalitpur on Monday, he said Nepal should also be able to benefit from the development and change in technology. Minister Dahal stressed the need to follow new techniques and styles to provide quick, fast and quality services.

Stating that quality services could not be provided only by working in the traditional form, Minister Dahal stressed the need to utilize the development and transformation in technology.

Stating that initiatives and efforts of any one ministry and body alone would not be enough for transport management, Minister Dahal said that inter-agency relations and cooperation could also be enhanced.

Minister Dahal thanked the jica and donor agencies for their support in the development of various sectors of Nepal and expressed the belief that cooperation and cooperation would continue in the days to come.

JICA’s Nepal Chief Representative Mizuki Matsuzaki said Japan was happy to be able to extend support to Nepal and the support would continue in the days to come.

According to Sushil Babu Dhakal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, JICA has spent more than three years studying the urban transport management in Kathmandu. JICA has also given suggestions with various guidelines regarding traffic lights and intersection management.
