America. Outgoing Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising has said that there is a problem in the supply of electricity due to lack of management by the current leadership of NEA.
Ghising, who is on a visit to the US with the ‘Ujjal Nepal Campaign’, said that there was a problem in the supply of electricity across the country as the NEA leadership could not show managerial capacity even though the electricity generation was adequate.
“After the new management, those who were doing good work in the right place started in the past were removed from the responsibility by calling them kulman’s people, and the head of a sensitive place like sending the burden of operating the power system across the country was removed,” he said. It’s a complete failure of management. ’
Ghising said that the NEA management was misleading the project by removing the CHIEF Executive Officer of the company working round the clock at a time when the pre-investment works of the 670 MW Dudhkoshi Reservoir Project, which is being constructed with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank, are in the final stage.
He said that the government had removed him with contempt while trying to recover the premium bill dues of industrial customers who had taken electricity from dedicated and trunk lines during load-shedding in the past.
Stating that the end of load-shedding was not a magic, ghising said that the then Prime Minister, Energy Minister, NEA employees, common consumers and Nepalis living abroad encouraged them to do more work in this regard.
“We have got the light of electricity, but there is darkness in many places and we have started the Ujjwal Nepal campaign with the idea of doing something to remove the darkness prevailing in the country,” he said.
He called upon all to join the ‘Ujjal Nepal Campaign’ announced to assure that something will happen and can be done within the country. He said that ‘Bright Nepal’ is not only a campaign of electricity but also a campaign of change for the overall economic revolution within the country to achieve good governance, efficient public service delivery, social justice and economic prosperity.
Ghising had earlier visited the Middle Eastern countries of Bahrain, Oman, UAE and Qatar to meet nepalis sweating it out in foreign lands.
