Maheshpur to Harpur road construction deadline extended

Nawalparasi. The deadline for the construction of maheshpur main customs road with India has been extended for the second time.

Road Division Office Butwal and Gaurishankar Himalayan Construction Company under the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport had signed an agreement in April 2080 to construct a 1-km road from Maheshpur to Harpur in West Nawalparasi and 500 meters in Sunwal Bazar. Chief of Division Office, Butwal, Jibendra Mishra said that 40 percent of the work has been completed so far.

Chief Mishra said that the contractor could not complete the work on time due to the physical structure of the locals and the need to shift the electric poles. Sushil Poudel, engineer at the Road Division Office, said that the deadline has been extended for the second time to complete the work of Maheshpur road. According to him, action will be taken against the contractor as per the law for not completing the road work till the extended deadline.

Maniram Lama, proprietor of Gaurishankar Himalayan Construction Company, said that the work could not be completed on time as the structures including electric poles had to be shifted. He said that the construction work is going on to be completed by next November.

Ward chair of Palhinandan Rural Municipality-2, Jagdish Gupta, said that the goods vehicles and passengers coming from India are facing difficulty in moving in the mud due to the rain.

According to him, Gaurishankar Himalayan Construction Company has taken the contract for the construction of the road from Maheshpur to Bhaksipur of Palhinandan rural municipality-1 of the district.
