Kathmandu. President of Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) Ritu Singh Baidya said that the mobility sector is an important engine of Nepal’s economic growth and job creation.
Naima Chairperson Baidya said the sector has directly and indirectly employed more than 1.24 million people and contributed 7.13 per cent to the GDP.
Baidya said the sector, which has more than 5.5 million vehicles registered, is generating employment in sales, maintenance, logistics and infrastructure sectors. Mobility is indirectly supporting thousands of people by increasing access to education, health, tourism and financial services.
About 4 out of the industries surveyed by the automobile industry alone. She said that 7 percent of the jobs have been created. She said that new career opportunities like technicians and charging infrastructure are being created as Nepal is moving towards low emission vehicles.
Stating that Naima has been investing in the development of skilled human resources in collaboration with CTEVT, she said that they believe that this will ensure inclusive and future-oriented employment for nepali youth.
Naima’s establishment is aimed at driving the nation’s mobility and becoming the collective voice of vehicle importers and manufacturers.
