45-km rural road blacktopped in Parbat in one year

Most of the roads operate in winter and come to a standstill during the rainy season. Of the rural roads in the district, more than 45 kilometers of roads have been blacktopped in the last fiscal year 2081÷82. More than 45 kilometers of roads have been paved by blacktopping and slope from the budget allocated through various offices and projects under the federal government and state governments.

The 13-km-660-metre road has been blacktopped in various road projects of the district through the Road Division Office, Pokhara under the federal government. Out of this, 10 kilometers 661 meters have been blacktopped and 3 kilometers eight meters have been sloped.

Similarly, 10 kilometers 98 meters have been blacktopped by the Infrastructure Development Office of Gandaki State. Office chief Santosh Aryal said that the office had set a target of blacktopping 15 kilometers in the last fiscal year, but only 10 kilometers 98 meters have been blacktopped.

Similarly, the Local Infrastructure Development Project Office, Kaski has blacktopped the 8-km-286-metre road. Janak Raj Panta, chief engineer of the project, informed that the project has blacktopped about four kilometers of roads and sloped 4 kilometers of 362 meters of roads.

Similarly, a 5-km 217-metre road has been blacktopped by the Intensive Urban and Building Construction Project Office, Baglung. Engineer Sushil Acharya said that 5.217 meters of roads have been blacktopped and blacktopped in various road sections allocated through this project.

Similarly, the Lunkhudeurali-Huwas road in Parbat has also been blacktopped through the Rural Road Network Improvement Project. According to the project, only a few sections of the 15-km-long road remain. Apart from this, various local levels of the district are also speeding up the road upgradation and slope work.

In the last fiscal year, 30 kilometers of road was blacktopped in Parbat. At the same time, about 300 kilometers of roads have been blacktopped across the district. According to the Infrastructure Development Office, 1.349 kilometers of raw roads have been expanded and 7.36 kilometers of roads have been graveled in the last fiscal year. About 29 kilometers of roads have been widened and 18 kilometers of drains have been constructed.

According to Office Chief Aryal, 47,448 cubic meters of retained walls have been constructed, while 76 culverts and 10 kilometers of roads have been repaired. Office Chief Aryal said that the construction of Lidikhola motorable bridge was completed in the last fiscal year and malayangdi khola and Chhatiseghat motorable bridge are under construction.

According to him, the Himalayan Secondary School-Nuhar-Khaniyaghat road has been blacktopped in the last fiscal year under road projects worth more than Rs 50 million. Out of the 4 km 800 meters long road, 3 kilometers have been blacktopped and 1,800 meters have been sloped. Similarly, out of the road costing less than Rs 50 million, the Upper Bachhachowk-Hare Chaupari road of Phalewas has been completed. Aryal informed that the work of other salbasali and most of the tukre projects has been completed completely.

Arjun Sharma, engineer at the Infrastructure Development Office, said that out of the 133 road projects allocated in the last fiscal year, about half a dozen roads could not move forward due to duplication of budget, insufficient budget and land disputes and stalled by the ministry. According to him, the office achieved 75.77 percent financial progress and 78 percent physical progress in the last fiscal year.

A budget has been allocated for upgrading 75 roads in the current fiscal year at the Infrastructure Office. It has decreased by Rs 194.5 million in the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year. Sharma informed that a total budget of Rs 632.2 million has been allocated for the current fiscal year.
