Gorkha. The 341 MW Budhigandaki Hydropower Project has inaugurated the bailey bridge constructed at Khorlaveshi of Dharche-3 in northern Gorkha.
Laxman Gurung, chairman of Dharche rural municipality, and Him Pathak, chairman of Times Energy, the promoter company of the project, jointly inaugurated the bridge. The project has been constructed at Nimrung Khola at Khorlabeshi along the Benighat Larke road being constructed by the Nepal Army with the aim of connecting the Tibetan border.
Inaugurating the bridge, Rural Municipality Chair Gurung thanked the project for constructing the bridge along the road, which is the lifeline of northern Gorkha. He also wished the project to be started on time and completed on time.
Him Pathak of Sahas Urja, the promoter company of the project, expressed the hope that the coordination and cooperation of the project and the rural municipality would continue. He also informed that after the construction of the bridge, it would be easier for vehicles to reach the dam site of the project.
Chairperson of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-3 Ram Kumar Gurung, Vice-Chairperson of Dharche Sunila Gurung and Chief Administrative Officer of Dharche Kaziman Sunar also spoke on the occasion. The bridge is 37 meters long and 4 meters wide. After the construction of the bridge, it has become easier for the residents of Dharche-1, 2 and 3 and all the wards of Chumnubri rural municipality to travel to urban areas including the district headquarters and the capital.
“Earlier, vehicles could not be driven by the Khorla rivulet during the rainy season. Now it has become easier after the construction of the bridge,” said Indra Prasad Gurung, former ward chair of Dharche-3. He said it has now become easier for the residents of Chumnubri to reach Machhakhola to board vehicles.
A power house will be constructed at Tatopani of Dharche-3 by taking water from a 7-kilometer tunnel by damming the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, Chumnubri-3, Salleri. The electricity generated here will be taken to Ratmate substation of Nuwakot, 45 kilometers away, and will be connected to the central transmission.
