Myagdi. Myagdi: The construction of power substation at Dandakhet of Malika rural municipality-7 in Myagdi district has been completed. The equipment has been installed after completing the construction of the substation infrastructure through the Dandakhet-Rahughat transmission line project run by the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Project chief Roshan Agrawal informed that the land and building to store equipment at Dandakhet substation have been prepared. “Installation of equipment of 133÷33 KV, 30 MVA capacity and AIS technology at Dandakhet substation constructed on 19 ropanis has reached the final stage,” he said. ’

Larsen and Toubro Limited had signed a contract on December 31, 2021 for the construction of a 25-km 132 KV transmission line connecting Dandakhet to Amwang of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-3, Rahughat and substations at both places. The contract, which expired on July 16, has been extended till November 16.

“Overall, 79.17 per cent physical progress has been made,” said Project Chief Agrawal, adding, “The construction time of the project has been extended due to weak topography and risk of disaster at Rahughat, delay in getting permission for construction of towers in forest areas and community disputes at some tower construction sites.” ’

The foundation of 59 towers of the 132 KV double circuit transmission line has been laid so far, out of which work on 45 towers has been completed. The contractor has started work on all the towers except four towers. 85 percent of the equipment of transmission lines and substations has been imported.

The construction of the structure has begun after the foundation of land for the construction of the office building and placing equipment at Rahughat substation of GIS technology, which will install equipment of 220÷132÷33 KV, 200 MVA capacity. Six years ago, 90 ropanis of land was acquired to build a substation in Ambang.

The construction company has brought about 100 manpower from India a few days ago. NeA has invested Rs 1.05 billion and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Rs 3.82 billion for the construction of the project.

Raghuganga Rural Municipality-3, Beni Municipality-9, 10, Mangala Rural Municipality-1, Malika’s Ward No. 6 and 7 are the construction sites of transmission line towers. Compensation of Rs 15 million has been distributed to the private land owners and land has been purchased for Rs 45 million for using the forest area and provided it to the government.

Myagdi: Construction of four hydropower projects with a capacity of 172.8 MW has begun on myagdi river. The 35.5 MW Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale and 21.3 MW Bigkhola hydropower projects have started test production at Rahughat.

Upper Rahughat with a total capacity of 48.5 MW, Rahughat with 40 MW capacity and Upper Borokhola hydropower projects with 23.5 MW capacity are in the final stages of construction. The Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale hydropower project and the joint energy bigkhola hydropower project have started supplying electricity to the 220 kV Kaligandaki transmission line by constructing temporary towers.
