Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has directed the government to work towards fulfilling the objectives of the current fiscal year’s budget.

Addressing a meeting of the Ministry-level Development Problem Resolution Committee here today, Finance Minister Poudel directed the government to work actively to meet the targets of economic growth, capital expenditure and revenue collection.

Stating that the targets could not be met with average efforts, Finance Minister Poudel stressed the need to change the working style. He urged them to play a positive role in resolving the problems rather than getting entangled in problems and pay attention to the results.

Stating that ordinances, policies and programmes have been brought to boost the morale of the private sector and dialogue has been enhanced, Finance Minister Poudel stressed the need for further study and research in this regard.

Vice Chairman of The National Planning Commission Prof. Shivaraj Adhikari said that although the indicators of the economy are correct, it is necessary to increase ‘economic confidence’ in the private and public sectors.

Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. Bishwanath Poudel stressed the need for the government to do ‘big push’ in certain sectors to make the economy more dynamic at a time when interest rates are low.

Similarly, Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay stressed the need to introspect and focus on work as the past goals and results have already come.

Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire said the targets could be achieved only if the programmes were implemented with urgency from now on. He pointed out the need for further reforms in revenue administration.

Chief and Spokesperson of the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the Ministry of Finance, Shyam Prasad Bhandari, said that the indicators of the economy are positive and priority will be given to further coordination and facilitation in the coming days.

The participants of the meeting expressed the view that more results could be achieved by resolving the problems and challenges that arise during the implementation of the program.
