Government spending Rs 1,508.11 billion in last fiscal year

Kathmandu. In the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, the total expenditure of the government is Rs 1,508.23 billion. A total of Rs 1,408.76 billion was spent in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS.

Similarly, 85.95 percent i.e. Rs 980.38 billion has been spent on current and 63.2 percent i.e. Rs 222.68 billion on capital expenditure. According to a presentation made at the Annual Progress Review and Performance Agreement Exchange Ceremony held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, an expenditure of Rs 87.87 or Rs 320.04 billion has been incurred on financial management. The expenditure has increased by 2.94 percent in the current fiscal year as compared to mid-June 2081 BS.

Similarly, the capital expenditure has increased by 16.15 percent in mid-July 2082 as compared to mid-July 2081. In the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, 87.14 percent of the expenditure has been incurred on financial management. A total of 81.87 percent of the annual target has been spent.

In the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, tax revenue collected 81.75 percent of the annual target and non-tax revenue was 95.45 percent, taking the total revenue collection to 83.06 percent of the annual target. The total revenue collected in the fiscal year 2080/81 was Rs 1,030.34 billion, while in the fiscal year 2081/82, rs 1,178.82 billion was collected. This is an increase of 14.41 percent compared to the previous year.

According to the data provided by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, tax revenue increased by 13.25 percent and non-tax revenue by 28.8 percent compared to the previous year.

In the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, total imports amounted to Rs 1,804.12 billion and exports to Rs 277.3 billion. The total trade deficit stands at Rs 1,527.9 billion. Compared to the previous year, imports increased by 13.3 percent and exports increased by 81.8 percent.
