Ilam. Two bailey bridges have been constructed in Ilam in a year. According to the Road Division Office, the bailey bridge was completed in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS with the investment of the federal government.
According to Arjun Ghimire, information officer and engineer at the Office, the bailey bridge has come into operation at Jogmai Khola connecting Maijogmai rural municipality-4 and Ilam municipality-10 under simalgolai-Tilkeni road and Puwakhola connecting Ilam municipality-9 and 11 under Kechana-Kanchanjunga (Mechi corridor) road.
A 40-metre bailey bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 19.12 million at Jogmai khola and a 48.6-metre bailey bridge has been constructed at Puwakholakh at a cost of Rs 14.376 million.
The culvert, which was signed in the same fiscal year, is under construction. A double cell box culvert is being constructed at a cost of Rs 18.5 million at Thade Khola under kechana-Kanchanjunga road. Ghimire informed that the deadline has been extended once as the culvert entrusted to Krishna/Diamond/Abhyudaya JV was not completed within the agreement period.
