Gaighat. At a time when the price of green vegetables is increasing in gaighat, the district headquarters, skus produced in the hilly areas of Rauta, Saune, Khambu, Rautamalbase, Salle and other areas are being traded around Rs 10,000 per day.
Tanka Bahadur Magar, a farmer of Khambu, said that the skus produced here has started selling in gaighat market area since the last week of July.
Devraj Khatri, another farmer of Khambu, said that traders from Gaighat, Deuri, Bagaha and Siraha areas are now coming to buy skus. According to him, skus were being sold at Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per day by the last week of July.
Kumari Katuwal, a trader at Gaighat Vegetable Market, said that the price of squash in the hilly areas is rs 30 to Rs 40 per kg.
At present, the traders are selling vegetables imported from outside the district at double the price in Gaighat, but the consumers are happy to be able to consume fresh and green squash here.
Samjhana Basnet, a consumer of Gaighat Boxe, said, “We have been able to buy organic squashes in the hilly areas of the district at a time when traders are buying rotten and pesticide-rich vegetables from outside the district at cheap prices and selling them at high prices. It does not adversely affect health and costs have also been reduced. ’
According to the farmers, the demand is high in the market as consumers also like the skus produced in saune, khambu and rauta hilly areas of the district.
According to businessman Prem Magar, the sale of skus produced in the region will start from the third week of July every year and will be consumed the most in August. Stating that he had sold skus worth lakhs of rupees throughout August last year, he expressed the belief that it would be sold in comparison this time as well.
According to the farmers, skus produced in Saune, Khambu, Dahar and Rauta, Malbase and Aptar areas of the hilly areas of Triyuga Municipality are sold every year in the district headquarters Gaighat Bazaar as well as rajbiraj of Saptari and Lahan of Siraha outside the district. According to farmers, some people sell skus worth Rs 50,000 to Rs 300,000 in a season.
