Bhaktapur. The Ministry of Health of Bagmati Province is going to implement free health insurance for journalists from 13 districts of the province. Informing media persons in Bhaktapur today, State Health Minister Kiran Thapa said that the insurance program would be implemented to cover all journalists in the state in free health insurance.
Minister Thapa said, “We are working to be serious about the health of journalists, so we are going to implement the program by including journalists from all 13 districts of the state under the health insurance so that the state government will bear the premium fee for the insurance.” ’
He informed that the Ministry has allocated a budget of Rs 2 million for journalist health insurance for the current fiscal year. He said that preparations have been made to make the technical aspect of insurance simple, transparent and digital-friendly and make arrangements for the government to pay the insurance premium by making journalists as a family of five and joining the group.
Minister Thapa expressed the belief that insurance would improve the health security of journalists in the long run. “My health, my responsibility, one hour for me” campaign, “One district, one healthy city” and “One local level, one model health institution” programme will also be launched from this year as part of the plan to improve the health sector, he said.
Minister Thapa said that the action plan has been forwarded so that the common people feel that the government has reached the villages by providing easy access to health services not only to 13 provincial hospitals in 13 districts but also to the people of remote areas. Stating that people enter the villages themselves with medical supplies, medicines and equipment, he stressed the need for all to work in such a way that the people feel the change.
