More than Rs 140 million lost due to disasters in one year

Biratnagar. A total of Rs 149.229 million has been damaged in Morang in one year due to disaster-related incidents.

According to the District Administration Office, 412 disasters were reported in the last fiscal year 2081/82 BS. Of these, the highest loss of Rs 146.54 million has been reported in 261 fire incidents. In 11 incidents, two women, a man were killed, two injured and a house was damaged, causing damage worth Rs 335,000.

Similarly, rs 65,000 was damaged in four cases of inundation, Rs 685,000 in seven incidents of storm and Rs 685,000 in 22 houses, and two women and two men were killed in 34 incidents of attacks by wild animals and physical damage worth Rs 1.597 million was caused, according to the District Emergency Operation Centre.

During the period, 187 houses were damaged in 10 incidents of floods, one in landslides, four women and four men in 43 cases of snakebite, one person died by falling from a cliff and seven women and eight men died in 40 cases of electrocution. A total of 36 cattle have died.

Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav said that nepal police and armed police force should be mobilized to seek the help of locals as soon as they come to know about the disaster incidents.
