Baglung. There has been a problem in the transportation of food grains due to lack of road operation during the rainy season in Niseldhor, considered the most remote area of the district. Burtibang, the second commercial hub of the district, was connected to the road network seven years ago, but it was difficult to transport and travel due to lack of vehicles during the rainy season. Until a decade ago, locals used to live in Niseldhor only during the rainy season, but now the number of permanent residents has increased for 12 months.

At present, 300 households live in the rainy season and around 150 households in the winter. In the fiscal year 2076/77 BS, dhorpatan was connected by motorway. Although Nisseldhar in Nisikhola Rural Municipality-5 has a lot of potential in terms of tourism, tourists have been reaching only on foot due to the difficult road. Samjhana BK, a local, said that due to lack of transportation in the rainy season, there is a need to store food grains in the winter.

According to him, although the road from Navi, Bhuji of Dhorpatan municipality-9 to Maskhola is good, the road above it will be washed away and muddy. BK lamented that hundreds of locals here have been facing problems in the rainy season as the road has not been repaired for so many years. He said that people are forced to carry goods from the market due to lack of vehicles.

BK said, “Why is the rainy season sore, neither the vehicles, nor the horses and mules can walk, there is a lot of problem in bringing goods from the market and consuming it, our problems are not heard by the government, we are in such a remote place, it takes a day to bring a sack of rice, if someone is sick in the village, it would have to be carried to the doka, it would have been easier if such a road was built.” ’

Kule BK, a local, said that agricultural products including potato, apple and beans are good in Nisseldhor, but due to the poor condition of the road, there is a problem for marketing. Stating that the compulsion of transporting goods by people and horses in winter has been reduced after the arrival of the road in the village, he said that if the four-kilometer road is made systematic, the vehicles will run in Niseldhar for 12 months. According to BK, there is a risk that the goods produced here will be crushed if the road does not operate from June to October.

Surya Bahadur Gharti Magar, chairperson of Nisikhola rural municipality, said a survey has been conducted to upgrade the four-kilometer road from Maskhola to Niseldhor this year. According to him, the road would be upgraded with rs 7 million allocated by the Gandaki state government and the traffic would be operated for 12 months. Chairperson Gharti Magar said that the road has changed the daily routine of the residents of Niseldhor and there will be no problem even in the rainy season.

“Niseldhor is a bit behind geographically, but still we are working with priority, earlier there was no road, there was no drinking water, now there is also water facility, the road has not been operated a bit in the rainy season,” said Gharti Magar. ’
