Kathmandu. Thousands of devotees have thronged Gokarneshwor Uttargaya Pitra Teerth Dham in the north-eastern part of Kathmandu since this morning to offer tarpan, sidadan and pind to the departed father.
Thousands of devotees have thronged Gokarneshwor on the day of Bhadrakrishna Aunsi, as it has been a religious belief that the ancestors from 21 generations ago cross the border by performing tarpan, sidadan and pinddan. Due to this religious belief, a crowd of Vedic Sanatan Hindu and Buddhists has also gathered in the Gokarneshwor temple premises since this morning.
Traffic Police Circle Bouddha said that vehicles passing through the corridor of Sundarijal-Jorpati and Bagmati have been banned since this morning due to the crowd of devotees at Gokarna. Transport management, volunteer mobilization, health services and search services have also been provided in the temple area, coordinator of Gokarneshwor Mela Committee and Chairperson of Gokarneshwor Municipality-4, Jairam Mahat, told RSS.
Temple priest Jagdish Bhatta said that due to the religious belief that the ancestors who have come to this place by performing tarpan, sidadan and pinddaan, the devotees gather in this temple on the day of Bhadrakrishna Aunsi.
Devotees who came to Gokarneshwor, however, say that although there is a lot of religious importance, they are sad due to the lack of good management in Gokarneshwor. Ranendra Budhathoki, a visitor from Dolpa, said that the inconvenience caused by the inconvenience caused by the vehicle was sad in the fair. “I came to know about the mystery of the vehicle not being able to ply due to the narrow road around the temple,” he said.
He also complained that there was a problem in walking from Jorpati as the road was narrow by constructing houses on public land in the temple area. Many devotees say that none of the three tiers of government has paid attention to the management of the holy shrine, which is of classical importance.
Not only the Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion, but buddhists have also gathered in this area since morning. Buddhist leader Dundup Lama said that it is customary for Buddhists who have passed away within a year to come here and perform shradh and worship and eat a feast.
He also shared that buddhists believe that if they come to Gokarna today, they will be able to see the image of the departed father. Today’s Aunsi is also known as Gokarne Aunsi as the fair is held in Gokarna. It has been believed that those visiting Pashupatinath should also visit Gokarneshwor Mahadev as shri yantra is worshiped at Pashupatinath and Bal Yantra is worshiped at Gokarneshwor.
On this day, Hindus celebrate Kushe Aunsi festival by bringing the necessary Kush to perform religious activities at home throughout the year. Kush is considered to be the form of Lord Vishnu. Similarly, the festival of seeing the father’s face by giving sweet food to his father is also being celebrated across the country today.
