New Delhi. New Delhi: Reliance Power Ltd on Sunday clarified that the recent action taken by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Reliance Communications Ltd and industrialist Anil Ambani has not affected its business operations, financial performance or shareholders.

“Reliance Power Limited would like to clarify in media reports that the recent cbi action against Reliance Communications Ltd and Anil Ambani has not affected business operations, financial performance, shareholders, employees or any other stakeholders,” the company said in a filing on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). ’

The details and records available in the public domain show that the complaint filed by the State Bank of India (SBI) pertains to a decade-old case.

At that time, Ambani was involved only as a non-executive director of Reliance Communications. He had no role to play in day-to-day management. He resigned from the company’s board in 2019, six years ago.

Reliance Communications is currently under the management of a committee of lenders led by SBI and is being overseen by the resolution professionals, the company said.

The case is sub-judice and has been pending for the last six years by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and other judicial forums, including the Supreme Court.

Reliance Power has clarified that it is an independently listed company and has no business or financial relationship with Reliance Communications. Anil Ambani has not been on reliance power’s board for more than three and a half years.

Therefore, no incident related to Reliance Communications will have any impact on the governance, management or operation of Reliance Power.

The company said it is focusing on implementing its business plans and reiterating its commitment to provide value to all stakeholders.

Anil Ambani’s spokesperson said that the complaint filed by State Bank of India pertains to a 10-year-old case and the bank’s claim has been challenged in the competent judicial forum.

Anil Ambani has strongly denied all the allegations and has said that he will protect himself. “SBI has already withdrawn proceedings against five other non-executive directors, but Ambani has been specifically selected,” the spokesperson said. ’

Earlier, the CBI, through a press note, had said that a criminal case has been registered against Reliance Communications Limited (RCom), Mumbai, its director Anil Ambani, unidentified public servants and other unidentified persons on the basis of a complaint received from the State Bank of India, Mumbai. According to the press note, the case was registered on August 21.
