Kaski. Pokhara: The construction of ‘Pokhara Great Trail’ from Manipal Kalikhola to Kanhuko Dhuri of Pokhara Metropolitan City-11 has reached the final stage.

According to Pokhara Metropolitan City, the construction of this trekking route will be completed within the month of January. Of the nearly 4,500 stairs on the trail, only a few are left to be constructed.

The construction of the 1 km 800-meter trekking route from Kalikhola to Kanhukot was started in 2080 BS. For this, the metropolis had allocated Rs 3 million in the first phase.

Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya said that this trail, which is close to the main market area, is important and attractive from the tourist point of view. According to him, a budget of Rs 8 million has been allocated in the current fiscal year for the foot track.

“We believe that pokhara will be developed as a suitable place for those who enjoy walking in the morning and evening. “We have called it an organic trekking route with local characteristics and identity,” said Mayor Acharya.

According to Construction Committee Chair Tirtha Bahadur Basnet, stones have been cut and laid on the trekking route. There will be resting places at four different places along the trekking route and ‘viewpoints’ will be constructed at 10 places. Basnet said that the trekking route will be 10 feet wide and will be surrounded by railings in the middle and fencing on the right side.

It is hoped that the construction of the trekking route will help in the development and promotion of tourism in Kahukot, which is a natural ‘viewpoint’ of Pokhara. As part of the ‘Clean Pokhara, Green Pokhara’ campaign, around 400 fruit saplings have also been planted on the right side of the trail on Sunday.

As part of the mega campaign to plant 226,000 saplings of Pokhara Metropolitan City, saplings such as aru, arubakhada, avocado, mango, mango, amba, litchi, koiralo, kaiyo, asare and palans have been planted in the area.
