Kathmandu. Nepali plywood industrialists are facing a crisis in the industry due to their own reasons. There is a possibility of a crisis in the ply industry after ‘Made in India’ was found in India while exporting plywood exported from Nepal.

Home Prasad Ghimire, president of Nepal Plywood Manufacturers Association, admitted that the ply was sent with ‘Made in India’ written on it.
The Department of Commerce of India has seized eight trucks of mechi customs office and said that the goods written ‘Made in India’ were found in the truck. Of the eight trucks seized by the department, three belong to The Saawariya Ply Factory in Jhapa. Similarly, two trucks of Ganapati Ply Industry of Dang, two trucks of Ambe Bhawani Ply Industry of Jhapa and one truck of Jhapa Ply Industry have been seized.
India has been exporting ply worth billions of rupees annually from Nepal, while Nepal also imports a small amount of ply from India. In the last fiscal year 2081/82, Nepal exported ply worth Rs 7.09 billion to India. In the last fiscal year, Nepal imported ply worth Rs 317.66 million from various countries.
Nepal exported ply worth Rs 331.168 million to India in the current fiscal year alone, according to customs data. Nepal imported goods worth Rs 16.72 million in a month.
Nepal produces ply and exports it only to India. However, Nepal imports ply from India, China, Japan and Myanmar, according to customs data. Nepal-India export relations are likely to be affected after nepal’s ply industrialists sold the ply exported from India to India.
There are nine industries that can export ply from Nepal to India. Ambe Bhawani Ply Board Industries Pvt. Ltd. is located in Birtamod-2, Jhapa. Similarly, Ganapati Venier and Plywood Industries in Dang, Sawaya Plywood Pvt Ltd in Jhapa and Jhapa Venir and Plywood Industries Pvt Ltd in Jhapa have been exporting ply to India.
Similarly, Shyam Plywood Industries Pvt Ltd in Bhairahawa, Bhusal Ply and Bamboo Industries Pvt Ltd in Nawalparasi, Ramdhuni-2 in Sunsari, Everest Vineers Pvt Ltd and Barju in Jhumka, Century Ply Industries Pvt Ltd in Sunsari and Green ply Industries Nepal Pvt Ltd in Budhiganga-5 of Morang have also got permission for export.
