Rasuwa and Tatopani border points to come into operation immediately

Kathmandu. The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has drawn the attention of the government to make the Rasuwa and Tatopani border points, which were disrupted due to heavy rains and floods, operational as soon as possible.

Stating that the closure of these two transit points, which are considered to be very important for nepal-China trade, has caused serious problems in the trade, business and import÷in export system, the Chamber urged the government to take immediate reconstruction initiative.

According to a press release issued by the Chamber, the ministry of foreign affairs, finance, home, physical infrastructure and transport and industry, commerce and supplies have been drawn to the impact of the upcoming festivalseason as industrialists, businessmen and common consumers have been directly affected during the upcoming festivalseason and it will also affect the price rise.

According to the Chamber, the import of clothes as well as daily necessities, raw materials and other essential items has been disrupted, which has increased the risk of potential shortages in the market. In a statement, the Chamber said, “Big festivals like Dussehra, Tihar and Chhath are approaching. Imports have been directly affected due to lack of timely reconstruction of Tatopani and Rasuwa border points, which could put additional financial burden on the consumers.

Not only foreign trade, but small industries and business establishments are also in crisis due to the prolonged closure of important checkpoints with China. Electronics, clothing, fruits, food, medicines and other daily use items from China have been blocked, the chamber said.

The Chamber has stressed the need to take immediate initiatives in collaboration with the concerned agencies keeping the issue of opening important trade points in high priority.
