Sydney. Australia’s consumer goods and services prices rose to 2.8 percent in July 2025, the highest rate in the last one year.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the consumer price index rose 2.8 percent in a year from 1.9 percent in the previous month.

This rate is the highest since July 2024, when the annual price increase was 3.5 percent.

This rate is higher than economists had anticipated. They had estimated an increase of about 2.3 percent. The basic measure of price rise (trimmed average rate) has also increased to 2.7 per cent from 2.1 per cent in the previous month.

Among the sectors that contributed to price rise during the year, house rent and housing expenses increased by 3.6 per cent, food and non-alcohol items by 3 per cent and alcohol and tobacco products by 6.5 per cent.

The prices of coffee, tea and cocoa have increased by 14.4 per cent due to which the supply has been affected due to adverse weather conditions on international production.

According to estimates released this month by the country’s central bank, prices will continue to rise in the remainder of 2025 and remain stable at around 3 per cent for most of 2026.
