Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has taken action against dhanusha distillery pvt ltd after non-food items were found in an alcoholic beverage called ‘Mustang Gold’. Non-edible substances like shrimp were found in the liquor being sold in the market in a sealed condition. The metropolis has imposed a fine of Rs 200,000 for violating the norms.
On August 14, the consumers themselves came and complained that the liquor was found in the Metropolitan Police Force. The department had collected samples of the liquor and conducted a physical examination. During the investigation, it was confirmed that inedible elements were found inside the sealed bottle.

According to Section 10 (30) (n) of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Market Management and Monitoring Act, 2075 BS, this act is considered an unfair business activity. Similarly, dhanusha distillery pvt ltd has been found to have violated the law as per section 29(d) and section 30(10)(b) of the Act.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Livestock of the Metropolis, after depositing the fine amount in the revenue account of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the information should be submitted to the department. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has adopted a policy of regular monitoring and strict action to ensure the quality of food and beverages sold in the market.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has pledged to continue checking the quality of all food and beverages sold in the market keeping the health and safety of the consumers as the first priority.
