Construction of ‘overpass’ in Mirchaiya, target to be completed within 4 months

Siraha. An overpass is being constructed at Mirchaiya of Siraha as part of the expansion of Kanchanpur-Kamala road along the East-West Highway. Construction company China Railway-2 Engineering Group has said that the construction is being carried out with the goal of completing the work by December 31, 2025.

A total of 24 piles have already been installed in the 500-metre-long overpass. The structure will be constructed at a height of six meters.

Saroj Koirala, information officer of the technical section of the project, said, “After the construction of this structure, vehicles on the east-west side will pass through the overpass and arrangements will be made to cross from under the vehicles on the north-south side.” ’

Construction of another overpass has already started at Lahan Chowk under the same plan. According to the construction company, some technical problems have arisen as the electricity poles have not been shifted.

Under the 86.83 km road expansion project from Kanchanpur to Kamala, 66.50 percent of the construction of the 47-km stretch from Balan river to Kamala has been completed so far. The total cost of the project is Rs 15.66 billion.
