Nawalpur. The construction of a well-equipped trauma centre at Devchuli Municipality-17 has begun in full swing. According to the Intensive Urban and Building Construction Project, Chitwan, the work is going on in full swing as per the agreement signed with the Government of Nepal to complete the work within 18 months of the construction started on July 15.
Information Officer at the Office, Engineer Drona Mandev Katuwal, said that BBS JV of Chitwan is carrying out the construction work to be completed at a cost of Rs 103.5 million including VAT. “At present, the foundation work is being done, the construction company is working to remove the poles and prepare the foundation. In the next few days, the foundation work will be done,” he said.
Katuwal said that the work has been forwarded after the cabinet decided on the basis of the report to cut down 646 trees÷poles of different species during the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Although the cabinet has given permission to cut trees, the work is currently being carried out by cutting trees only at the place where the building is to be constructed, he said.
According to Avishek Kumar Chaurasia, site engineer of the trauma centre, the trauma centre is being constructed on an area of about three bighas of land in Jharahi community forest. Similarly, two-and-a-half storey buildings with a capacity of 15 beds are being constructed to cover an area of 1,000 square meters. It will include treatment of patients on the ground floor, hospital administration on the first floor, multi-purpose meeting room and hospital ward and staff’s accommodation on the upper floor. According to him, work has been carried out by preparing a map to construct x-ray room, operation theatre and rooms required for the laboratory in the hospital.
The trauma centre being constructed along the East-West Highway will benefit the accident patients in Nawalpur and neighbouring districts.
