Chitwan. Egg consumption has increased with the beginning of the festival. The price of eggs has also increased due to decrease in production and increase in demand.

The Nepal Layer Poultry Association has said that the support price of eggs has increased. The support price has been fixed on the basis of rates of various farms. Association President Binod Pokharel said that the price of large eggs (30 pieces) has been fixed at Rs 545 per crate and medium eggs at Rs 530 with effect from thursday. At the same time, the retail market price has been fixed at Rs 23 per piece.

At present, the average cost price of eggs in Nepal is Rs 16.56 per egg, while according to the new price, farmers will get rs 18.16 per piece of large egg. Farmers who have not received the cost price for a long time are relieved.

Pokharel said that the demand has not decreased even in the month of July this year and the price of eggs will gradually increase. Now many farmers have been displaced despite getting the cost price. He said that even the farmers who are rearing chickens are in crisis due to the losses of the past.

Trilochan Kandel, former central president of Nepal Egg Producers’ Association, said the daily production of eggs was more than four million, which has now come down to around 2.2 million.
