Kathmandu. The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has urged the government to immediately open the work of registration and renewal of online media.
A delegation led by FNCCI President Nirmala Sharma submitted a memorandum to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung requesting him to immediately open the renovation work. A memorandum signed by FNCCI General Secretary Ram Prasad Dahal stated that the Federation would launch an agitation if the blocked registration and renewal were not started.
Receiving the memorandum, Minister Gurung assured that transitional arrangements would be made to end the inconvenience caused to the online media and new regulations would also be brought immediately. Ministry Secretary Radhika Aryal said initiatives would be taken to facilitate the registration and renewal of media.
The registration, renewal and operation of online media has been disrupted across the country after the local administration amended the Printing Press and Publication Act, 2048 BS to register and renew online media.
