Taplejung. Two excavators and two tippers at Sinam Power House have been washed away by the Kabeli rivulet as the water level has increased following incessant rain last night.
According to District Police Office Taplejung’s Information Officer and Police Inspector Bibek Basnet, the Kabeli rivulet swept away two unidentified excavators and two tippers.
Two excavators that were washed away from the powerhouse at Sirijunga rural municipality-1 have drowned about 20 meters below and two tippers have not been found. A search is on for the remaining tippers, police said. There was no loss of life in the incident.
The family of Hangmaya Thungim (Limbu) of Pedang of Sirijunga rural municipality-5 has been completely displaced and five other houses are at risk due to landslides triggered by rain, said local politician Khel Prasad Budhachhetri (Parag).
Similarly, the playground of Mahendra Basic School in ward no. 7 of the same rural municipality has also been damaged. Ward member Jagat Samu said the landslide occurred near the newly constructed building.
Heavy rainfall occurred in different parts of the district last night. According to locals, small and big landslides have also damaged the crops due to the rain.
