More than 88,000 tourists arrived in Nepal in August, number of arrivals increased by 22 percent

Kathmandu. In August 2025, 88,680 tourists arrived.

According to the data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Monday, there has been a 22 percent increase in tourists in August this year as compared to last year.

According to the board’s data, 35,505 or 40 per cent tourists from India, 7,533 (8.5 per cent) from China, 6,068 (6.8 per cent) from the US, 5,956 (6.7 per cent) from Sri Lanka and 4,262 (4.8 per cent) from Bangladesh.

In the eight-month period from January to August 2025, 7,36,562 tourists entered the country. According to the data released by the Board, 47,137 tourists (53 percent) have come from South Asian countries (SAARC), 15,777 or 17.8 percent from other Asian countries, 11,132 i.e. 126 percent from Europe and 2,435 i.e. 2.7 percent from Oceania.

Similarly, 7,293 (8.2 per cent) tourists came from the US, 944 (1.1 per cent) from the Middle East, 322 (0.4 per cent) from Africa and 3,640 (4.1 per cent) from other countries. In July 2025, 70,193 tourists arrived.

Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Board, said that nepal’s tourism, which has been crippled by the corona epidemic, is gradually recovering. He said, “The number of tourists coming from India has increased with the addition of Air India Express from India. We are hopeful that tourist arrivals will continue to increase in the coming period. ’
