Paris. Apple is going to update software to iPhone 12 handsets across the European Union (EU) to reduce the power of its radio transmitters.

It is planned to update the software across the EU “in the coming weeks”. The update will be in line with changes made in 2023 on phones in France based on a post-test report by France’s ANFR Radio Frequency Authority.

“We disagree with the French ANFR’s testing approach but respect the european commission’s decision,” Apple said in a statement. “Customers will be able to use their iPhone 12 with full confidence as they do now,” the statement said.

THE ANFR ordered a halt to the sale of the iPhone 12 in September 2023, citing excessive electromagnetic emissions absorbed by the human body while holding the device in hand.

Apple immediately updated only for France to correct the effect. The European Commission confirmed the ANFR’s findings and subsequent steps in its August 19 decision published on Monday in the official journal of the ANFR, calling it “justified”.
