Kathmandu. Diwan Chand has been elected as the president of Nepal LP Gas Industry Association. Chand, who is also the director of Himalayan PetroChemicals Pvt Ltd, was elected as the chairman of the association by securing 33 votes at the 30th annual general meeting and 12th session of the association held in Pokhara on Sunday.

However, office-bearers and working committee members have been unanimously elected to the posts other than the president of the association. In the election held for the post of chairman, Diwan Chand’s closest rival Krishna Bhakta Shrestha, proprietor of Ugrachandi Gas, got only 17 votes.

There were a total of 57 industry members in the association, out of which only 50 voters participated in the voting. Shiva Prasad Ghimire has been elected as the outgoing chairman of the 14-member working committee, Surendra Raj Poudel of Baba Gas Pvt Ltd as senior vice president, Dharma Raj Bartola of Grihalaxmi Gas Pvt Ltd as vice-president and Ashish Agrawal (Jajodia) of Kawasanus Industries as vice-president.

Similarly, Amit Agrawal of Chandeshwari Gas Company Pvt Ltd, Ayush Nepal of Shriram Gas Udyog Pvt Ltd, Sudip Ghimire of Prima Gas Industries Pvt Ltd, Sunil Sinha of Bheri Gas Industries Pvt Ltd, Lok Harsh Shakya of Sahara Gas Udyog Pvt Ltd, Bimal Kalakheti of Lumbini Gas Udyog Pvt Ltd, Rajendra Prasad Dangal of Sitashree Gas Udyog Pvt Ltd, Bimala Subedi Dhungana of Novel Gas Industries Pvt Ltd and Manish Kumar Joshi of Panchamahalaxmi Industries have been elected as members. ।

Ghimire, who is also the outgoing president of the association, said that the newly elected working committee would be handed over the responsibility and posting programmes would be held in Kathmandu.
