Kathmandu. The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has carried out tree plantation and cleaning on the occasion of Civil Service Day-2082 BS.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka inaugurated the programme by planting trees.

Speaking at a programme organized on the eve of civil service day today, Energy Minister Khadka stressed the need for employees to maintain good governance and provide services to the common people in a speedy manner. He also urged the employees not to forget their responsibilities while protecting their rights.

Energy Minister Khadka shared that the Ministry of Energy has been carrying out dengue control and sanitation campaign since the past years. Stating that it would be wiser not to prevent the spread of the disease than to get the disease, he said that such awareness programs would help in controlling the disease.

Water Resources and Irrigation Secretary Sarita Dawadi said the week-long programme has been organized as per the decision to observe the Civil Services Day in a different way from this year. He said the ministry has been conducting cleanliness programmes every Friday since last year.

Secretary at the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat Dinanath Mishra and Joint Secretary at the Ministry Chiranjibi Chatout were present on the occasion.

A team of The Department of Health Services of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has also launched a campaign to destroy mosquito larvae to control dengue. The team has carried out a search and destruction of larvae in the possible areas of water logging inside singhdarba.
