Mustang. Mustang: The Korala border point in Mustang, which shares a border with Tibet Autonomous Region of Northern China, has come into full operation.

Mustang Customs Office said that the Korala border point in Upper Mustang, which was opened to the citizens of Upper Mustang for 12 months on November 12, 2080, has been fully operational from Sunday. The Customs Department has transferred Ramesh Khadka, a customs officer at the Department, as the chief of mustang customs office.

Similarly, three human resources including two Naib Subba and a computer operator working at Rasuwagadhi border point have been deployed for the customs office here, office chief Khadka said. According to Customs Chief Khadka, there is one computer operator here and five human resources working in the main work of the office are ready for customs check. He said that all the employees deputed by the department in the office have been present since Sunday.

The Department of Customs has started activating mustang customs to import Chinese goods from Korala border point. The Customs Department has come up with a plan to make the rasuwagadhi border point dynamic after floods and landslides disrupted the transportation of Chinese goods to Nepal in the first week of July.

The road between Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani is blocked. After the closure of both the checkpoints, the importing traders had requested the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Department to create an environment for the import of Chinese goods required for important festivals like Dashain and Tihar.

Chief of Mustang Customs Office, Khadka, said that the Department has formally opened the Nepal-China Korala border point in Mustang as a trade route in view of the request of the importing traders.

Customs Office Chief Khadka said though efforts have been made to operate the Rasuwagadhi and Tatopani border points as an alternative transit point due to floods and landslides, there would be no problem in import and export at the border points here.
