Kanchanpur. As many as 27 government offices, five political party offices, 12 private residences of leaders and people’s representatives, four business centres and 16 vehicles were vandalized and torched during the agitation.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sagar Bohara of District Police Office, the District Administration Office, the gate of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Kanchanpur Prison, Area Police Office in Tribhuvanbasti and Gulariya, the Government Attorney’s Office, Shuklaphanta Municipality and wards 1 to 12, Punarbas and Krishnapur Municipality offices, Bhimdutta Municipality and Beldandi Rural Municipality offices were vandalized and set ablaze. Millions of rupees have been lost in documents, furniture and other materials.

Similarly, the offices of the CPN (UML), the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the Nepali Congress were also torched and vandalized by the unidentified group in Bhimdutta and Dodharachandani municipalities.

The houses of outgoing Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, former Chief Minister Rajendra Rawal, former Minister Prakash Rawal, Mayor of Bhimdutta Municipality Padam Bogati, Deputy Mayor Nilam Lekhak, former lawmaker Nirudevi Pal, State Assembly member Madhu Bharati, Mayor of Bedkot Municipality Bhojraj Bohara, former Mayor of Bhimdutta Surendra Bista, DCC Chief Durga Dutta Bohara, Karnali Province Chief Yagya Raj Joshi and Mayor of Krishnapur Municipality Hemraj Ojha were also torched ।

According to the police, the hotel was vandalized and looted in the area, including Hotel Opera, CMG Casino, Bipin Book Shop, Royal Sewing Center and Diamond Casino.

As many as 16 vehicles were vandalized and torched in course of the agitation. Among them are hearse, fire trucks, motorcycles, scooters, tractors and rollers. According to the police, a huge amount of government and private property has been damaged in the incidents of vandalism and arson across the district.
