The fire that broke out in the building of the Transport and Roads Department on Tuesday is being extinguished today.

Kathmandu. The fire broke out in the buildings of the Department of Roads and Transport under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has been put out with the help of fire engines.

Buildings in the two departments were also set on fire on Tuesday as part of the “Genji Generation” protests.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Finance, Bhimarjun Adhikari, said although the building of the Ministry was not badly damaged by the fire, the Department of Roads and Transport Department under the Ministry were destroyed in the fire. “The fire is still burning inside these buildings. Efforts are underway to douse the fire by bringing in the fire engine of Lalitpur Metropolitan City,” he said. It is not yet known how many vehicles were burnt and how much damage was done. ’

Spokesperson Adhikari said that details of loss would be collected soon. The artistic administrative buildings of Singha Durbar have been reduced to ashes due to fire. The demonstrators torched Singha Durbar, Supreme Court, Kathmandu District Court, Special Court, Sheetal Niwas, among other important government structures.

The employees who reached Singha Durbar have started cleaning the burnt buildings. Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal had inspected the buildings that burnt into the fire today itself. Although it is estimated that the demonstrators targeted government buildings and offices, the exact details of the damage are yet to be ascertained.
