We should not go beyond constitutionalism, say Speaker and National Assembly Chairman

Kathmandu. Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal have said that President Ram Chandra Poudel was taking efforts to find a way out through the constitutional process. Issuing a joint statement on Friday, they said the arson of the Federal Parliament Building and the Secretariat and across the country has caused irreparable damage to the country.

They have said that they are determined that the President should not go against the rule of law and the constitution to give a way out through the constitutional process in the current difficult situation.

“The President is taking the initiative. In this context, we are firm that we should not go against the rule of law and constitutionalism. We appeal to all to address the demands of the agitating parties and commit themselves to a more advanced, prosperous and strong democracy,” the statement reads.
