Humla. Fourth generation (FourG) service has come into operation in Changkheli rural municipality of the district. Locals have said that the operation of the 4G service in the villages has helped a lot. Harka Budha, a health worker working at Melcham Health Post, said they were helpful after the 4G service came into operation.
Nepal Telecom started 4G service from Kathmandu and Pokhara on Poush 17, 2073 BS. Entrepreneur Dipak Thapa said that the service has helped to run their business after the operation of the 4G service. According to Nepal Telecom, the fourth G service has been brought into operation in Tanjakot, Adanchuli and Sarkegad rural municipalities of Humla, Soru rural municipalities of Mugu and Bajura and surrounding villages.
Chairman of Changkheli Rural Municipality, Pyari Lal Shahi, said, “The Ferjee tower has come into operation due to the untiring efforts and continuous efforts of the rural municipality to ensure access to modern technology even in geographically remote areas like Humla.” I am confident that this will ensure the local people’s access to new opportunities in education, health, communication and employment. ’
He said the expansion of the 4G service would also facilitate education, health, social service, entertainment and information exchange in the rural areas through electronic means. The tower placed on Lama shoulder of Changkheli rural municipality-3 will also provide service to some settlements of Sarkegad of Changkheli rural municipality and some settlements of Soru rural municipality of Mugu.
The 4G service will be operated in most of the settlements in the lower part of the district after the tower installed at Masidhar of Ward No. 6 came into operation on Saturday.
Internet service will be restored in all settlements of the lower belt after the operation of the under-construction tower at Mahatara ground. The locals here are now very happy after the service of 4G service has started running from the district headquarters to the remote villages. Rural municipality health coordinator Surbir Shahi said it would be easier for him to work in the office even though the 4G service has started in every household of the area with the completion of the tower. According to him, it was difficult to enter health data due to lack of internet in the past.
The rural municipality had been making efforts to extend the service up to 4G in the village for a long time. Chairperson of Changkheli Rural Municipality Shahi said that the construction of the tower has begun last year after continuous correspondence, direct meetings and coordination with the central office of Nepal Telecom in Kathmandu for the past two years. With the launch of the 4G service, schools in the district will be able to start digital education, online education and online services in health.
