Kathmandu. The government has extended the deadline for paying tax by a month.
Madan Dahal, director general of the Inland Revenue Department, said that the deadline for paying tax for the month of August has been extended by one month as per the law. “We have already decided to extend the deadline for payment of tax by a month. The notice will be published in the gazette soon,” he said.
There is a legal provision that the tax including VAT and excise duty should be paid to the concerned tax office within the 25th of every month. This time, due to difficult circumstances, the time to pay tax has been extended.
He urged Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal that the industrialists have not been able to pay tax within the stipulated time due to the Genji movement and the latest political developments.
During a meeting with the private sector this afternoon, Finance Minister Khanal assured to extend the deadline for payment of tax by a month. Likewise, Finance Minister Khanal said that a fund would be set up for the reconstruction of damages caused by the public and private sectors.
