Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The route permit will be opened for public vehicles from Ghatasthapana to October 8 throughout the country.

A meeting of the stakeholders held at the Department of Transport Management on Monday decided to open the route permit for the smooth operation of public transport during the Dashain festival.

The meeting also decided to give continuity to the system of advance ticket booking for medium and long route public vehicles in a bid to ease the transport management in view of the festive season.

Likewise, the meeting also decided to make arrangements for online booking of passenger tickets as far as possible and carry out effective monitoring of passenger vehicles entering and out of the Kathmandu Valley in collaboration with the concerned bodies.

The meeting also decided to take a compulsory ticket while travelling in public vehicles and to operate the vehicle only with the identity details of the passengers from the ticket counter.

President of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, Bijay Bahadur Swar, said that the decision has been taken to completely control the sale of tickets by people without unauthorized counters, identity cards and uniform.

The meeting also decided to ban the operation of big vehicles including trailers from Ghatasthapana to Kathmandu from Ghatasthapana to Purnima in order to ease public transport movement.

A decision has been made to check the health condition of drivers consuming alcohol and drugs throughout the country including major points entering and exiting the Kathmandu Valley and to mandatorily test the mechanical condition of the vehicles on long routes before leaving for their destinations.

It is stated that arrangements would be made for effective monitoring and monitoring in view of the possible increase in the number of passenger vehicles and the possibility of road accidents.

Citizens help desks would be set up at 15 places in the Kathmandu Valley with the cooperation of SIPRADI÷NADA and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) for facilitating the passengers going in and out of the Kathmandu Valley during the festive season.
