Three-member task force formed at Finance Ministry to seek budget for elections and reconstruction

. KATHMANDU — The Ministry of Finance has formed a three-member task force to reconstruct the physical structures damaged during the Jenji agitation and to find sources of budget for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.

The taskforce comprises Chief of Budget and TAG_OPEN_div_10 Program Division Suman Dahal, Chief of Foreign Assistance Coordination Division Dhaniram Sharma and Chief of Revenue Management Division Uttar Kumar Khatri.

According to Tanka Prasad Pandey, spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, the task force has been formed to conduct an internal study on how to manage resources by reducing some plans and programs that are included in the current budget.TAG_OPEN_div_8 “We need some budget for elections and reconstruction. A task force has been formed to study how the budget can be managed within the existing budget and what are the potential areas,” Pandey said, “Some projects and programs of the budget may have to be cut.” The task force has the mandate to determine its priorities.

Newly TAG_OPEN_div_6 appointed Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal has said that the budget for the current fiscal year 2082/83 will be cut down on the budget of the current fiscal year 2082/83. According to Minister Khanal, the government will not bring the supplementary budget and the amount of resources worth one billion rupees can be collected for the election and reconstruction by curtailing the plans and programs included in the current budget.
