Gulmi. Three major roads in Gulmi district including the Kaligandaki Corridor road have been obstructed due to incessant rainfall for the past three days. Kathmandu: Vehicular movement along the Kaligandaki corridor has come to a complete halt since last night due to landslide at Rakse of Kaligandaki rural municipality-2 in Gulmi section.

Information Officer at the District Police Office, Ganga Bahadur Saru said the landslide occurred at Salleri, ward no. 3 of Ruruchetra along the Madan Bhandari Highway and the water level has increased at Daharekhola of Satyawati rural municipality-6 along the Ridi-Bamitaksar road section.

Vehicular movement on both sides of the district has been disrupted due to obstruction on all three main roads of the district. It is raining continuously in the district. Information Officer Saru said that although the local rural municipality and road construction company have kept the necessary equipment ready to resume the obstructed road, it has been difficult to clear the landslide debris due to incessant rain. Vehicles heading to Tamghas, Palpa and Butwal from Parbat, Baglung, Ridi and Parbat have been stranded due to the obstruction.

The District Administration Office has urged the people living in landslide-affected areas and river banks to stay safe and alert as there may be disaster-induced risks due to the incessant rainfall.
