Ministry of Finance directs Ojha not to work in Insurance Authority

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Finance has directed Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) Chairman Sharad Ojha not to take any action. Today, the Ministry has sent a directive letter to Ojha asking him not to carry out any work as the chairperson.

Tanka Prasad Pandey, spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, said that Ojha has been directed not to carry out any work today. “The ministry has not asked Ojha to reinstate him as the chairman of the NRA,” he said. ’

Ojha had returned as the chairman of the NEA on September 14 with a letter of interim order from the Supreme Court.

A single bench of Justice Sharanga Subedi issued the interim order on September 9. After this order, Chairman Ojha returned to the NRA. He did not inform the ministry about the matter.

On the occasion, President Ojha called the chief executive officers of the non-life insurance company and held discussions.

A cabinet meeting held on August 18 had sacked Ojha from the post of chairman of the NRA. After the government sacked him from the NRA, Ojha had approached the Supreme Court. Ojha had approached the court demanding that the government not implement the decision to sack him immediately.

The government had sacked Ojha and sought applications for the post of new president. A total of 14 candidates have applied for the post of president.
